What can you complain about?

Norwegian law gives you the right to complain in most cases — also as a foreign resident. These are the most common complaint bodies and processes.

The police sometimes drop cases without investigating. You can complain to the Public Prosecutor (statsadvokaten) within 3 months, who decides whether the case should be investigated.

How to complain when the police drop your case

Many police reports in Norway end with the case being dropped. But you have the right to complain — and the Public Prosecutor can reverse the decision.
